Jeju is an island where works by world renowned architects such as Itami Jun and Ando Tadao, as well as the footsteps of powerful masters such as Lee Jung-seop, Kim Young-gap, and Kim Chang-yeol, are here and there. In July, large and small events are held, including exhibitions of works by world-class artists and heartbreaking stories.
The Grape Museum is currently emerging as the hottest museum in Jeju. The existing Da Vinci Museum reopened as a Grape Museum after three years of closure. TNC Foundation's APOV exhibition 'The World Made by You and I' was invited to the opening exhibition.
‘The World Made by You and I’ is a simulation exhibition that shares the meaning of empathy and experiences from the perspective of an artist the phenomenon of hate and expression that causes conflict by antagonizing mankind. You can meet the works of eight Korean, Chinese, and Japanese artists, including Kang Ae ran, Kwon Yong-ju, Seong-rip, Lee Yong-baek, Jin Ki-jong, Choi Su-jin, Kuwakubo Ryota, and Chang Xiaogang.
Through these works, viewers can illuminate the pain left by the harmful effects of hate on mankind, from the process in which fake news and distorted information incites prejudice and hate, and sensibly the message of the righteous who chose the path of harmony through forgiveness and inclusion in the history of tragedy. can experience
On the second floor of the Grape Museum, you can see the exhibition ‘Baby, Spring has Come’ by Kette Kollwitz, a representative German artist. Kette Kollwitz is an artist who expresses labor and poverty, war and death, and motherhood through engraving drawings and bronze sculptures.
You can see 32 engraving drawings and 1 bronze sculpture, which are rare in Korea. Three videos about the artist's world and life are also available. The desperate feelings of a mother who lost her son and grandson in World Wars I and II are buried in the work, giving a heartbreaking impression.
In consideration of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) situation, the museum provides audio guide services in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. Idol Hallyu stars Espa and Gisele participated in the recording.
Arario Museum is also one of the representative exhibition halls of Jeju. You can see the works of more than 30 masters of contemporary art history, including Andy Warhol, Keith Hering, and Nam June Paik.
On the 5th floor of this building, you can see a special exhibition titled 'I Have a Dream' by CI KIM (CI Kim, Kim Chang il). CI KIM is the founder, collector and artist of Arariro Museum. He describes the museum's philosophy as 'simplicity with the soul'.
Kim Young gap Gallery Dumoak and Bunker of Light are also representative exhibition icons of Jeju. Kim Young-gap Gallery Dumoak conveys the emotion of a photographer who came down to Jeju by chance and wanted to communicate with people through photos by visiting large and small oreums until he buried himself in Jeju.
Bunker of Light is an ‘immersive media art’ exhibition hall. It is a fun space for the eyes and ears as you can enjoy the performances of 'Paul Klee, Draw Music' along with the works of famous artists.
